T he DAV Trust was founded in 1885 to perpetuate the vision and memory of Maharishi Swami Dayanda Saraswati, the founde of the Arya Samaj, who believed that education is the most potent factor in reforming and remolding society. Intent on keeping the flag of pristine Vedic culture flying high in the only hindu kingdom Nepal, the DAV Trust at the behest of the Kedia organization, heraleded the beginning of the DAV movement in Nepal by laying the foundation of DAVSKVB in Nepal on 25th Jan, 1993. The school has been named in the cherished memory of late Shree Sushil Kedia, son of Shree Shankar Lal Kedia, a pioneering industrialist and active social worker. True to the DAV tradition of spreading the principle of Truth, Universal brotherhood and service before self as enunciated in the ten principles of the Arya Samaj, the school imparts values based education, inculcating the wisdom of the East with the technical advancement of the West, producing confident, sincere, committed and responsible citizens firmly grounded in the roots of their culture and tradition.The school has adopted the motto "Vashudhaiva Kutumbakam". The school has been a trail blazer in many ways. Manifold growth in all dimensions have been listed year-wise below:

1993-1994

  • The school started in 5/9 Kalimati, Ward No. 13 with students and Ms. Rashmi Mehta, deputed by DAVCMC, New Delhi, as Principal.
  • The School approved by DEO, Bhotebahal for Primary School.
  • A computer installed in the school.
  • By the end of the session, student strenght reached 42.

1994-1995

  • The DEO Bhotebahal extends approval upto Class VI.
  • Students strength rise from 42 to 242.
  • In the K.G. a KEC Colour T.V. installed.
  • The School Local Management Committee organized Magic Show by renowned magicial PC Sarkar (Jr.) at Rastriya Sabha Griha on 29th March.
  • Classes III-VI shifted to own school building at Dhobighat, Lalitpur.

1995-1996

  • Class VI Students upgraded to Class VII.
  • Educational excursion of students from Class VI and VII to Nalanda University, Bhdhgaya, etc.
  • First Annual function of the school held at Rastriya Sabha Griha.
  • Two days Kathmandu Valley Trek organized for students from Class VI-VII, accompanied by the sports teacher, Mr. Amal Pahari.
  • First Annual Sports Meet organized at Dashrath Rangshala, Tripureshwor. Other DAV schools also participated in the meet.
  • Young artists of the school participated in Inter School Art competition.
  • School team participated in Kid's Karate championship and Taekwondo Competition at National Level.
  • Students of Class VI-VII attended a 3 day Vipassana Camp at Vipassana Meditation Center Nepal.
  • Eight students attended Vedic Initation Camp hosted by DAV Public School, Aneeshabad and DAV Public School, Shastrinagar in India.

1996-1997

  • Class VII Students upgraded to Class VIII.
  • Jawalakhel School (Senior School) equipped with good library, science laboratory, and computer laboratory with printer facility.
  • Separate music and dance room provided.
  • Students fee bill computerized.
  • School annual function organized, separately for primary and secondary classes.
  • Parents Co-operation Council established for monthly conference for improving the communication between school and parents.
  • Student Council Elecction held on 3rd April for teh first time, a milestone in the democratization of DAV.
  • Awards and prizes won:
  • Anwesh Prasain of Class IV won a silver medal at the International Kids Karate Championship.
  • Rojina Thakali of class VII elected as one of 10 best young artists of the country in the Art Competition arganized by UNICEF. Her painting displayed at Tokyo representing the nation.
  • Emmanuel Himanshu of Class IV won the 1st prize in the Inter School Art competition and awarded a Gold medal.

1997- 1998

  • All the classes shifted from Kalimati to Jawalakhel premises.
  • Request for closure of Kalimati Shcool at DEO office. School given approval up to Class IX by DEO, Lalitpur.
  • First DAV parent's mela organized in the school premises.
  • An intensive three day workshop conducted by Dr. Neesha Peshin, Curriculum Development Officer from DAV College Managing Committee, Nep Delhi.
  • A puppet show in Nepali language presented by the studnts of Soka University, courtesy JICA in the school premises.
  • Russian Astronaut, Yuri Vasulevish Melichav visited the school.
  • First Investiture ceremony held on 4th May, 1997 with the DEO, Lalitpur, Mr. Mahashram Sharma as the Chief guest.

1998-1999

  • DAV Boy's hostel opened at a distance of 50 meters from the school.
  • Second Investiture Ceremony held.
  • Lion's Club Quiz Competition sponsored by Lions Club of Rajdhani, organized in the school. Students from 33 school participated.
  • First DAV Inter-School Karate Championship held in which 20 schools participated in the 2 day event.
  • 1st DAV Fun Fair organized in the school premises.
  • Jagat Guru Shankarcharya Shree Jayendra Saraswati of Kanchi Kamkoti Peetham visited the school and blessed us.

1999-2000

  • The 1st batch of Class X appeared the board exams, altogether 41 students. Among them 20 students secured 1st Division, 8 students 2nd and 3 students were placed in compartment.
  • On 21st August 1999, 22 students were participated for inter School Karate Competition.
  • On 23rd September 1999, 4 students were participated in the art competition.
  • The two days annual function was scheduled at Royal Nepal Academy hall on 3rd October 1999 for Primary section and 4th October 1999 for Secondary section. Ms. Arati Sharma was also not be able to continued with us and left this institution at the end of this academic session.

2000-2001

  • 2nd batch appeared Xth Board examinations, out of 61 students appeared, 40 secured 1st division, 20 secured 2nd division.
  • A workshop on Total Quality Management and ISO 9001 held for the teachers and staff of our school.
  • Students from Class VIII-XI took part in an Inter School Art Competition organized by DEB held at St. Mary's School, Jawalakhel.
  • Students took part in the Inter School Competitions held at Kendriya Vidyalaya.
  • Students of Class IX and X took part in the Inter School Shooting Competition organized by Nepal Shooting Association at the Birendra International Sports Complex, Shooting Range, Satdobato.
  • Annual Sports day held at St. Xavier's ground, Jawalakhel.
  • British Ambassador, Ronald Nash along with Director and staff of British Council, Kathmandu visited the school.
  • Construction of new school building started from 1st September 2000 onwards.
  • New Computer Lab with 20 computers set up for +2 students.

2001-2002

  • 10th Jan, 1st DAV Winter Camp organized for 15 days. Students from and outside the school participated.
  • 1st March, 1st batch of class XII appeared the board examination.
  • 8th March, Vaastu Puja of the new school building performed.
  • 1st May, introduction of Montessori Section.
  • 11th July, a jaundice awareness programme conducted by Sushil Kedia Foundation.
  • 30th September, Sushant Yadav felicitated for obtaining highest mark in Nepali subject amongst all the DAV schools of India and Nepal.
  • 23rd November, students took part in Geeta chanting competition organized by Chinmaya Foundation, Nepal.
  • 24th December, students attended Eco awareness program organized by Kathmandu Central Zoo.
  • School started E-mail ID for students with its own domain.

2002-2003

  • School received the ISO 9001-2000 certificate for quality management according to ISO Standards.
  • School library updated, 8129 books in all.
  • Millennium Art Exhibition held at Nepal Art Gallery, Babarmahal from 3rd -11th August. The 101 art exhibits were all made by students of the school from the age group 6-17 years.
  • Students of the school brought out children's magazine on various issues. Young heart beats by students of IX A, Prayas nepali magazine by students of Class Vi and Herald Express by studnt, Rajul Bansal.
  • English teacher Workshop conducted by Paul Sumanshekhar of Oxford University Press in collaboration with PABSON attended by Engish Teachers.
  • Mr. Kancha Karanjit, one of the oldest DAV bus drivers awarded best driver certificate by Valley Traffic Police on Traffic Week 2059.
  • Mr. Niraj Karmacharya, Karate teacher awarded First Prize in black belt open category organized by 2nd International Jeet Kamendo Championship held in Mumbai.
